Park Hall Countryside |
At Park Hall we are committed to
looking after the environment and one of our aims is to recycle as
much as possible. We hope you will assist us by using the special
bins provided for bottles, paper, plastics and vegetable waste. The
vegetable waste will go on to our compost heap and we will re-cycle
this on our fields.

We have prepared nature packs for guests who like us love the
wildlife and walking in the countryside. In the section ‘Country
Leisure Activities’ there are further details on some of the many
nearby places to walk in the countryside including a number of
Wildlife Trust sites. In each cottage and in Park Hall Country House
you will find books on birds, mammals, wild flowers, butterflies and
trees. Ordnance Survey maps are also provided along with binoculars
and walking sticks. Here at Park Hall we have created many
countryside pathways for everyone to enjoy.

For those who would prefer to cycle we have bicycles to hire by the
day or for the whole of your stay.
We believe in guest’s comfort and our cottages are warm without
waste. Each cottage has been designed with all floors, roofs and
walls insulated, all windows and external doors double glazed and
draught stripped, every radiator is individually controlled and all
curtains double lined. The heating and hot water system is run on
Economy electricity. Energy saving light bulbs have been used where
possible but we have ensured there is an adequate level of light in
your cottage for your comfort. To assist, please turn out lights
when not needed. Water buts are placed around the cottages and farm
to collect rainwater to water the many plants surrounding the
cottages and Park Hall.

We place great emphasis on the care of the environment and to
provide a safe haven for the wildlife and birds that we share the
countryside with. As well as installing a large number of nesting
boxes around the gardens and lakes for a wide variety of birds, and
providing a range of assorted feeds to see them through harsher
times, we also provide a rescue centre for those birds that are
injured or in need of care.
Our tree planting scheme commenced in 2002 and last year we planted
another 100 trees to add to the many already planted.
Over 500 hundred new trees have been planted at Park Hall
We have to try and be one step ahead in protecting the new trees
from all the deer, rabbits and hares that would rather like to dine
on them.

We believe in supporting the local community. If, like us, you would
like to support our village why not try the many facilities and
shops available. There are wonderful farm shops too; Carter’s Farm
and Folly Farm shops, which provide good, local produce and Warren
Farm for pet accessories. We recommend, Barehams, for excellent
quality, locally produced, meat and Dukes for bread and patisseries.
For art and craft workshops Watershed Studio in our village runs a
full programme of courses throughout the year. Well worth checking
out.
